Midwest Iron wrought iron doors
The iron doors on our floor are made by Midwest Iron Doors. Two and a half inch thick wrought iron with a thermal break. That last part is the whole buying rule in Michigan: a wrought iron door that is not thermally broken will frost up on the inside in January. Every one we sell is thermally broken.
Like our wood doors, if you draw it on a napkin or show us a photo, we can make it. Any size. We have done doors four feet wide by ten feet tall. Pivot style, different bar patterns, different glass layouts. Midwest also does a venting glass option where the whole glass panel opens and there is a screen behind it, so you can get air through the door without opening it.
Where iron fits best: an entry with a bad exposure, where a wood door would take a beating from weather. Iron does not care.

Common questions
Are iron doors energy efficient?
Only if they are thermally broken. Ours are. A non-thermally-broken iron door will frost up inside in a Michigan winter, which is why we do not sell them.
Can I get a custom size?
Yes. Any size, pivot or swing, your bar pattern. Draw it on a napkin and we can make it.
Can an iron door open for air?
Yes. Midwest offers a venting glass option: the glass panel opens and a screen sits behind it, so the door stays closed and locked.
